Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Marion sponsors elementary schools in Smyth County in a Creative Writing Contest with the goal of helping our students develop their creative writing skills. Mrs. Melanie Smith, CES Librarian, presented awards to CES winners at an assembly for grades 3, 4, and 5 and the winners' families. Click the news heading to see a list of winners.

Smyth County Schools will have PreK and Kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during Parent-Teacher Conference night. CHILHOWIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is planning to hold a Read-a-Thon Fundraiser. It is a fun and exciting way for your child to help raise money for their classroom while reading. CES Spring Title I Family Night will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Students and their family members can enjoy sports-related activities, stories, and concession style refreshments! Click on this news heading to see the flyer.

It is almost time for the fall Book Fair! Students will visit the book fair during their regularly scheduled library time AND the fair will be open during Title I Family Night on Thursday, March 6. You can browse the selections online, as well as set up eWallet, a safe cash-free way for your child to shop the Fair. Choose an outfit, comb your hair, and put on your best smile! Spring picture day will be Thursday, February 27, and you will want to look your best for your photo! Class pictures will also be taken on that day, so do your best to be on time for school!
