During the week of November 11-15, CES classrooms will be participating in a friendly competition to see which class can bring in the most coins. The winner will receive extra recess time and a popcorn party! All money collected will go towards playground improvements. Click this news heading for more information.

Smyth County Schools will be closed on November 4 and November 5, 2024, for election day. School will resume at normal time on November 6.

Join us on Tuesday, October 29 for the Title I Fright Night and Pac Meeting. Please arrive early to sign in and get your station information. After signing in, everyone will go to the gym for the welcome and short PAC meeting. Then families will visit 11 different stations including Halloween stories, spooky science experiments, and sweet treats, to name a few! All students must be accompanied by an adult.

If you missed it the first go round, let's try this again! Comb your hair, choose your outfit, and put on your best smile for fall school picture retakes on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Please be on time for school as the photographer will start early and we want everyone to have their picture taken for the yearbook.

CES will hold Parent Teacher conferences on Thursday, October 17.
Smyth County Schools will be closed on Friday, October 18, for fall break.

On Friday, August 16, Chilhowie Elementary, Chilhowie Middle, and Chilhowie High Schools will dismiss early at 1:00 PM. This early dismissal is to facilitate additional parking for the funeral services of Sheriff’s Deputy Hunter Reedy, which will take place at Chilhowie Christian Church starting at 3:00 PM. Chilhowie Middle and Chilhowie High are being dismissed at 1:00 pm to support the coordination of bus transportation for all Chilhowie students.

This after-school program is available Monday-Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm for $30.00 per week at CES. The program is provided through a collaboration with Smyth County and Smyth County Schools to provide a safe space and nurturing environment for children during after-school hours. The program also provides a snack, homework help, and recreational activities, and is staffed by Smyth County Schools employees. A representative will be available on Back to School night to meet with parents and answer any questions.

Come and meet your teachers, principals, and see your school. When you arrive, enter through the library to receive your teacher assignment. We ask that all Kindergarten or 'new to our school' students/parents/guardians meet in the gym at 5:15 for a brief presentation. All others may report directly to your classroom.
