Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration Opens March 10
Formal registration for Smyth County Schools' pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs for 2021-2022 will be held at each of the county's elementary schools on March 10 and 11.

Smyth County Schools Return to Hybrid Instruction Model
At their called Board meeting on January 25, the Smyth County School Board approved a return to hybrid instruction beginning on Monday, February 1. A transition to four (4) days per week of in-person instruction will be staggered over several weeks. The diagram illustrates the transition beginning with hybrid for all students February 1 – February 19, then bringing our Pre-Kindergarten – 3rd-grade students back four (4) days per week beginning on February 22 (Wednesdays will continue to be used for teacher planning and virtual remediation). Our 4th-8th grade students will transition to four (4) days per week on March 1 and our 9-12 grade students on March 8. Parents will still have the option to keep their child virtual through the remainder of this academic year.
