CES Spelling Bee

CES held their school spelling bee on Friday, December 8, 2023. These winners from each of our 5th grade classroom competed: Cam Doane, Liam Minton, Blakely Burns, and Jocelyn Sheppard. Blakely Burns is our School Champion and will go on to compete in the County Spelling Bee, which is usually held in February. Cam Doane was the first runner-up. Congratulations to all these students! CES is very proud of you!

Fall Picture Retakes November 10, 2023

In case you missed it the first time around:
It's that time again! Comb your hair, choose your outfit, and put on your best smile for Fall school pictures on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Please be on time for school as the photographer will start early and we want everyone to have their picture taken with their class for the yearbook.

2023-24 School Bucks Challenge

Earning money for your school is easy!
The Food City School Bucks Challenge program begins September 6th, 2023, and runs through May 7th, 2024.
Parents can link their Food City ValuCard to the registered school of their choice. Points will begin tracking on September 6th when the program begins.

"Book Fair and VIP (Very Important Person) Week" Oct. 16 - 19, 2023

In conjunction with the Book Fair, Grandparents or other VIPs are encouraged to have lunch with their students, and then visit the book fair to do some shopping! A schedule for each grade level VIP Lunch and more information on the book fair can be seen by clicking the heading of this news article.

SCS Traffic Safety Program

Smyth County Schools will begin an automated school zone speed enforcement program to increase safety for students, parents, teachers and anyone else traveling through the school zones. Please see the attached release for additional information.

Emergency Drills

Chilhowie Elementary School will conduct emergency drills during the 2023-2024 school year as required by the Code of Virginia.
